Scientist from Bangor and Oxford Universities found out that the golden silk orb weaver spider’s silk can allow humans to see two to three times beyond the current magnification. This is the first time naturally occurring biological material has been used in the lens of microscopes. We can now see organisms that were classified before as invisible such as: biological micro-structures, engineered nano-structures, the smallest bacteria we know of (200nm), germs, viruses, among other small organisms. Producing the lens is a complex process but it can be done and it is important enough to be done.
